Westell DSL Modem Setup Options

This applies to all 2100, 2200 and 6000 series models. Screenshots were taken from a 2200 for the purpose of building this guide.

  • Standard Mode

  • This enables NAT and DHCP services and should be used unless customer has a separate router or is using a Static IP address.

  • Bridge Mode

  • This is for customers who have a separate router to install. No DHCP or NAT will be running, modem will be transparent.

  • Static IP Mode

  • Use of this will be very rare. This is for customers who have a static IP but are not using a router. Static will be assigned to the WAN port, the computers on the network will get DHCP addresses from the Westell.
