Electronic mail, or e-mail, is your personal connection to the world of the Net.
All of the millions of people around the world who use the Net have their own e-mail addresses. A growing number of "gateways" tie more and more people to the Net every day. When you logged onto the host system you are now using, it generated an address for you, as well.
The basic concepts behind e-mail parallel those of regular mail. You send mail to people at their particular addresses. In turn, they write to you at your e-mail address. You can subscribe to the electronic equivalent of magazines and newspapers. You might even get electronic junk mail.
E-mail has two distinct advantages over regular mail. For more click here!
3. What is FTP?
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a standardized method on the internet for transferring files to and from a remote network site. Many computers allow users to connect via ftp anonymously (without a password) and access public files. Most WWW browsers are able to connect to these FTP sites and allow users to peruse them without leaving the browser. Additionally, sites may be accessed with specific FTP applications. 7. Solving automatic disconnections when using Outlook 97
When you use Outlook to check Internet mail, Outlook makes a modem Dial Up Network connection, delivers incoming and outgoing mail, and then automatically disconnects the Dial Up Network connection. This is the default behavior of the Internet Mail Service provided with Outlook 97.
You can modify this behavior when you install the Internet Mail Enhancement Patch. The IMEP allows you to specify whether the Dial Up Networking connection keeps your modem connected after you choose to deliver mail in Outlook.
